June 21st Governor Holshouser’s friends, colleagues, and loved ones gathered at his memorial service to pay their respects. His lifelong dedication and service to our state was defined by many outstanding accomplishments that made North Carolina a better place to live. Governor Holshouser was a trusted counselor, great friend, an exemplary leader, and will be sorely missed. Please keep Governor Holshouser and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
This week the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources passed my legislation, S. 486, the Preserving Public Access to Cape Hatteras Beaches Act, out of committee. I applaud this critical step in the effort to regain access to one of North Caro lina’s most scenic treasures. Our work finally gives a voice to the people of North Carolina and all those who come to see its coast while still balancing the needs of the area’s wildlife and addressing any potential environmental concerns.
As a reminder, any college students interested in interning with my office during the fall of 2013, the deadline for applications is next Friday.
