Vance County Schools High School Exam Schedule for First Semester


State End-Of-Grade (EOC) testing and Measures of Student Learning (MSL) tests for the first semester of the 2013-2014 school year will be administered at Northern Vance, Southern Vance and Western Vance high schools Friday, January 10, and Monday, January 13 through Thursday, January 16

Western Vance High School will conduct final exams on each of the five days on a schedule that will ensure the mid-year graduation ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 17, for all eligible students.

At Northern Vance and Southern Vance high schools, the exam schedule includes the following:

  • January 10:   English II EOC/1st period MSL/1st period teacher’s exam 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Lunch break 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

1st period Career and Technical Education (CTE) Post-Assessment 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • January 13:   Math I EOC/2nd period MSL/2nd period teacher’s exam 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Lunch break 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

2nd period CTE Post-Assessment 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • January 14:   Biology EOC/3rd period MSL/3rd period teacher’s exam 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Lunch break 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

3rd period CTE Post-Assessment 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • January 15:   4th period MSL/4th period teacher’s exam/4th period CTE Post-Assessment  8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Lunch break 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Students dismissed at 12:30 p.m.

Specially scheduled EOCs/MSLs/Teachers’ exams/CTE Post-Assessments 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • January 16:   Specially scheduled EOCs/MSLs/Teachers’ exams/CTE Post-Assessments by appointment as needed

Make-up exams can be taken in the afternoon of January 15 and on January 16 with the permission of the teacher and principal. All make-up exams must be completed within the five-day testing period.

Middle schools and elementary schools will operate on a regular school day schedule throughout testing at the high schools.

Early College High School also will operate on a normal schedule. The Early College students completed exams prior to the holiday break and will begin classes for the second semester on Monday, January 6.

Thursday, January 16, will mark the end of the first semester at all schools, except Early College. Friday, January 17, and Tuesday, January 21, are teacher workdays at all schools, except Early College.

All schools and school system offices will be closed on Monday, January 20, in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Classes will resume at all schools, except Early College, on Wednesday, January 22, to begin the second semester of the school year.
