Louisburg College to Hold Open Auditions for Godspell Jan. 25-26

LOUISBURG, N.C.—Louisburg College announces open auditions for the musical sensation Godspell, to be held in The Norris Theatre on Saturday, January 25, and Sunday, January 26. Auditions will begin at 2:00 p.m. on both days.

Conceived and originally directed by John Michael Tebelak, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Godspell is one of the biggest off-Broadway successes of all time. Based on the Gospel of Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz (composer of Broadway hits Wicked and Pippin), Godspell boasts a string of well-loved songs, led by the international hit, “Day By Day.”

Norris Theatre Director Wally Hurst will direct the production, which will be presented on April 11, 12, and 13, and May 1, 2014. Hurst is looking for actors 16 years of age or older who can both sing and dance; all cast members will have solos and/or duets and be required to learn several dance numbers. Those auditioning must bring a song to sing, and be prepared to learn a dance and read from the script. Rehearsals will begin immediately after the show is cast.

For further information, please call Wally Hurst at (919) 497-3429.
