Sleepy Hollow stars, producer tout N.C. food, history and crew

While promoting the show’s first-season finale, the stars and producers of Fox’s Wilmington-region filmed drama Sleepy Hollow reflected on their time working and living in Wilmington. “Wilmington is beautiful,” said Nicole Beharie, who plays tough cop Abbie Mills. “It is the best crew. They’re really classy and it is like a family.” Actress Katia Winter, who plays a witch named Katrina, spent much of her downtime during the summer months at the beach. The actors did mention one downside to filming around the Cape Fear. “I eat too much,” Beharie said. “I like fish. There is so much good food. Kilwin’s – they have some really good ice cream.”

For producer Mark Groffman, Wilmington’s plethora of historic structures helped the show capture the look of 18th-century America. “I’ve actually been surprised at how well we’ve been able to do the flashbacks to Colonial-era Sleepy Hollow,” Groffman said. “That’s a huge part of our show.” Groffman said he felt fortunate to have filmed the first season in Wilmington and echoed Beharie’s praise of local crew members. “These guys were incredibly dedicated,” he said. “I’m hoping we’ll get everyone back (for season two).” The cast should return for season two filming by May.
