It used to be that cars were fairly simple to repair, but they often broke down. Modern automobiles have become very reliable. They’ve also gotten extremely complicated — with ABS brakes, traction control, navigation systems, and even self-parking systems. That means there are more things to go wrong and more knowledge needed to repair problems. That’s why this is National Automotive Service Professionals Week. The goal is to recognize mechanics across the country for their role in keeping America’s millions of cars, trucks, and buses on the road. There are nearly 90,000 automotive service facilities in the U.S. Each year, they generate over $43 billion in business. You can find current data on the country’s economy by downloading the America’s Economy mobile app at <www.census.gov/mobile>.

The armory has been sold for (need a drum roll)
$32,500.
You read that correctly thirty-two thousand and five hundred dollars.
I saw none of the 17 people watching the auction placed a bid directly. The only two bids came from the internet. The auctioneer opened the bidding at $250,000. The auctioneer tried for five or more minutes trying to get a bid then he just asked for any bid. The first bid was for $25,000. After several minutes more of pleading and begging (actually auctioning) the second and winning bid of $32,500 came in.
The name of the buyer will be revealed tomorrow at noon when County Commissioners meet to accept the purchase.
The worst kept secret—-anybody care to opine?
I bet the commish. thought they were going to get a lot more. I hope they keep this in mind when the new revaluations come up that property still is not selling for what they think it is worth.
Odell Barnes is the purchaser of the Armory?
Is it the same Odell Barnes known as The Foreclosure King?

The Odell Barnes was acting for someone else.
Commissioner Garrison asked what happens if the conditions of the sale are not met. Surprise that is not stipulated in the contract.
Sales is now pending payment and confirmation of the buyer.
One Voice…The Commissioners can not possibly reduce the property tax rate to equal the decline in property values in Vance County. For example, if a house declined in value from $150,000 to $100,000 since the last appraisal, they will increase the rate by approximately 33.3%. This adjustment will vary depending on the overall value of all property in the county.
