On July 3rd, 2014 The Vance County Regional Farmers Market Advisory Board last met. At that time no business plan was discussed and the form for public rental of the building was “a few weeks away from completion”. At the July 7th Vance County Commissioners meeting, manager Tracy Madigan states the business plan was being prepared but no expected date of completion.
As of today, no form is yet available for the rental of the building. And no business plan has been mentioned by anyone.
Now folks, just what do you expect to do with the building when the garden vegetables are all done for the season?
I plan to attend the Advisory Board Meeting. Will any of you?
I plan to attend the Commissioners Meeting on Sept. 8th to see if an update on the market is provided by the manager and if so, will a business plan be presented.
Anyone care to join me at these meetings or will you just stay here on HiH and attack me for caring?

Ironic you would use the term “attack” regarding your posts. For weeks now, you have done nothing but attack the current manager, the county officials who support her, and those who have tried to use this site for the betterment of the county rather than the betterment of yourself. If you wanted the job so bad, why didn’t you apply for it when it was open? Get off your high horse, Ms. Miller! I hope, even if you do attend the meeting, as I intend to as well, that you will allow our officials to work for the improvement of all. Your personal agenda sickens me. We have such an opportunity to work together as a community but your motives seem to focus entirely on YOU. Let’s make this about all of us! Let’s support Ms. Madigan and the fine Board that works so diligently to do the right thing for OUR community and not just the few, or in this case for the one.

    Fine Board?

  4. Deception September 1, 2014 at 9:02 am

Royal Rooter…I needed that laugh 1st thing this morning. Interested Reader as well as too many others to name often come on HiH w/o any info. and w/nothing better to do than insult or try and demean others posts. Since they don’t have any info. to add or don’t know how to relay it they get their kicks out of bad-mouthing your(and others) posts. Keep complaining about the lack of accountability with the Farmer’s Market and sooner or later somebody will hold Madigan’s feet to the fire and make her do her job!!!
Once again, another great idea in Vance County with good intentions to help local farmers that will fall into ruins and be another Armory within 10 years…..or less!!!!
Ms. Miller…..realize that some of the bloggers on HiH put Superman and Wonder Woman costumes on before they start browsing/typing on HiH b/c being “hidden” behind the keyboard makes them feel like those superheroes!!!! Keep pressing on and Good Luck!!!

Once again RR…..that was kinda funny!!!! even for those on HiH who don’t have a sense of humor!!
    Hence, mikey!!!

Thank you Deception for pointing out all of the deficiencies in Vance County. Yours is a public service that few in Vance County could equal. One question, though, why do you take such obvious pleasure in looking over the fence and criticizing your neighbor? I suspect a psychosis, maybe even of an organic nature. Better go see a professional. If you can’t afford treatment, go to the DSS in Oxford and ask about Medicaid. Some mental services are subsidized. Good-luck!

You want humor, now that’s humor.

  6. Deception September 1, 2014 at 11:44 am

Publius…..thanks for the corcern but like an ole’ gangsta used to comment…..”Sir/Madam I have alot of problems….but $$$$ ain’t one of them”. What kind of superhero costume were you wearing when you got behind your keyboard? Let me guess………….robin…….certainly you’re not Batman!!
You want humor……..look in the mirror!!!! Do enjoy your day in Vance County.
At least we don’t have a notorious COUNTY CROOK who stole $$$ right out from under the Finance Manager(s) nose as well as the County Managers!! Like I said before, if the rumor that her husband ratted her out it makes the “leaders” in County Govt. look pretty bad. Even someone of your intelligence can agree to that!!! Well…..maybe not!!!

Who is on the Market Advisory Board ?

  8. Mari Miller September 1, 2014 at 3:36 pm

Elmwood: several of the vendors are on the board, the board president is Deborah Price (also one of the vendors). The Vance County Cooperative extension office has two members and there is a county commissioner listed on the board as well. Jackie Sargent, the mayor from Oxford, is on the board and I think someone from Warren County is on it too. There are about 15 members total, I think.

Interested Reader: I look forward to meeting you this coming Thursday. I have never wanted the job that Tracy holds and have said so many times earlier in all these blogs. I just think if you take a job, you take the responsibility to perform the job as well. I have not attacked Tracy, but only tried to make others aware that there are major issues with the market. BTW…the county officials that “support her” are the same ones that gave the market $125,000 this year without getting a business plan to show how the market will pay the county back. Remember, this is NOT a non-for-profit organization.

publius,….you wanted to thank me 4 pointing out all the deficiencies in Vance Co but after checking w/several publishers we decided that unless you really LOVE 2 read you wouldn’t be interested in reading a 500+ page novel. Get in your vehicle & leave your comfy confines of the Country Club & take a tour of your county. Start over in the Flint Hill area then go towards Mobile & if you aren’t disgusted @ the filth & boarded up houses then you are a part of the problem. If you are still wanting to see more, ride thru Lincoln Heights, Henderson Heights, & Cedarhurst apartments. In my career I have had 2 visit all these areas & see 2-3 year old kids playing w/o any adult supervision. VANCE COUNTY’S biggest problem is that the majority of the elected officials have no clue what poverty is. How many times have you ever had 2 eat cereal w/water in the bowl b/c milk couldn’t’ be afforded? If you’re 2 scared 2 go see what I’ve seen…I will personally take u on a tour b/c I still have family in Vance Co. When you decide 2 step out of your comfort zone I’d gladly show u what poverty looks like!!!!!! If you aren’t comfortable w/idea then maybe Mr. Hart can go along as well……It’s time 2 “put up…or shut up”………….
