On Monday, August 25, 2014, members of the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant at 112 Peachtree Street in Henderson. The investigation of this matter began after Henderson Police received complaints of criminal activity around the Peachtree Street location. During the search, officers located 9 bricks (450 dosage units) of heroin, 3 bindles(bag) of heroin, 3.5 grams of marijuana, 524.00 U. S. currency, and a firearm. VGCC recognizes 13 Medical Assisting students at Pinning
Vance-Granville Community College held a pinning ceremony for its 2014 Medical Assisting program graduates on Aug. 8 at the college’s Franklin County Campus in Louisburg, where the program is conducted. As VGCC’s program is nationally accredited, graduates are now eligible to sit for the American Association of Medical Assistants’ (AAMA) certification examination to become Certified Medical Assistants. Suspect Sought in Weekend Shooting Incident – Reward Offfered for Info
On Sunday, August 24, 2014, at 1:33 P.M., members of the Henderson Police Department responded to Maria Parham Medical Center in regards to someone shot. Officers found that Quincy Gregory, 29, 426 Ford Street, Henderson was suffering from a serious gunshot wound. Gregory had been transported to the hospital by private vehicle. A second individual, Amil Davis, 33, 801 Water Street, Henderson also reported to the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. Davis was treated for his injuries and released. …

NC Unemployment Debt Drops by Nearly $2 Billion
The unemployment insurance debt owed to the federal government by North Carolina has dropped by nearly $2 billion under the reforms implemented by Governor Pat McCrory. The news was reported August 13 in a statement released by the Governor’s Office. Vance County Schools – Motorists Must Stop for Stopped School Buses
Vance County Schools is joining public school systems across North Carolina in asking motorists to adhere to the “Stop Arm” signs on school buses and to stop their vehicles completely while students board and get off of school buses. On Friday morning, August 22, 2014 at approximately 6 a.m., members of the Henderson Police Department Operations Division were dispatched to the bridge on Dabney Drive that crosses over Interstate 85. A call had been made to 911 that there was a man on the bridge and it appeared that he may jump. Officers promptly arrived on location and stopped traffic on Dabney Drive and Interstate 85.
