Henderson Kiwanis Club celebrates fully endowed VGCC Robert Turner Scholarship
Officials from Vance-Granville Community College were guests at a recent meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Henderson. Club members were celebrating the culmination of the process of fully endowing a scholarship at the college in memory of Robert J. Turner, a longtime member of the club. Henderson Police Deparment Investigating Suspicious Death
On September 21, 2014 officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to 124 N. Bullock Street, Henderson in reference to a suspicious death. Officers found Tisha Hargrove, 46, deceased inside the residence. The investigation is ongoing. The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Henderson Police Department with the investigation. An autopsy will be conducted by the North Carolina State Medical Examiner’s Office.

RALEIGH – Organic growers in North Carolina can apply for partial reimbursement of the cost of becoming certified or for recertification through a program offered by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Growers who are certified or recertified between Oct. 1, 2013, and Sept. 30, 2014, can apply for assistance through the program. Crooks are using phony invoices to try to trick schools into paying for supplies they never ordered or received. Schools around the country, including one in North Carolina, have reported the scam. The North Carolina school received a real-looking bill for $647.50 from “Scholastic School Supply” in late July.
