Armed Robbery Case: On September 24, 2014 at approximately 10:07 P.M. Henderson Police Department officers responded to Wilco Hess, 929 S. Garnett St., in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival officers talked to Taleshia Rainey the clerk who stated that two black males came into the store with a sawed off shotgun and demanded money. Both black males were wearing black. NCDOT Awards Contract for Cedar Creek Bridge Replacement in Franklin County
RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a contract to replace the bridge over Cedar Creek on Cedar Creek Road in Franklin County. The project can begin as early as Dec.1 and is scheduled for completion by Oct.1, 2015, weather permitting. A detour route will direct traffic to use Hicks and Cedar Creek Roads to bypass the bridge construction during the duration of this project. A map of the detour route can be found here. RALEIGH – With the arrival of cold weather, many North Carolinians are beginning to use their wood-burning stoves and fireplaces. The N.C. Granville County Habitat for Humanity will soon start construction on a new affordable home in Oxford, in partnership with the Carpentry program at Vance-Granville Community College. Of the 30,000 registered voters 14,174 (47.23%) showed enough interest to make their opinion known, they voted. Mining the Unofficial Results I discovered some other interesting results. In Vance County’s two competitive races, Register of Deeds and Sheriff Office, both had high voter totals. For the Register of Deeds 13,238 votes were cast or 93% of all ballots cast. Ambassador Programs at Eaton-Johnson Middle School, VGCC Renew Partnership
Vance-Granville Community College and Eaton-Johnson Middle School in Henderson are expanding upon the partnership between the two institutions’ student leadership programs. As part of a broad collaboration between the community college and the middle school, the ambassador programs from each side have worked together since 2008. At both VGCC and EJMS, “ambassadors” are outstanding students who commit their time to serve as leaders. Raleigh Flea Market at State Fairgrounds reopens Saturday
RALEIGH – After a month-long break for the N.C. State Fair, the Raleigh Flea Market reopens Saturday, Nov. 8. In addition, the N.C. State Fairgrounds will host several events this weekend. NC Teacher Leaving Annual Report 2013-2014
The number of teachers leaving North Carolina public school classrooms was down slightly from last year according to the 2013-14 Annual Report on Teachers Leaving the Profession just presented to State Board of Education members. In 2013-14, 13,557 teachers left their local school districts resulting in an overall state turnover rate of 14.12 percent. This was down from the 14.33 percent reported in 2012-13. The turnover report reflects the time period from March 2013 to March 2014. When asked about …
