The agenda for the county commissioners’ meeting lists two items in the county manager’s report. One is a comment and the other titled “Farmer’s Market HVAC system”. There are no details in the packet about either, and especially the farmer’s market HVAC. At last month’s meeting Commissioner Hester proclaimed he had marshaled through to obtain state tax dollars (a grant) to cover the purchase and installation of the HVAC system. Nothing was said about the operating cost of the HVAC system. Last time I checked natural gas or electricity are not free. The farmers’ market management has yet to provide the commissioners any financial reports (basic income and expense statements or profit and loss statement) that would show their ability to pay the operating or maintenance cost of a HVAC system. Also at last month’s meeting during the discussion about the animal shelter Commissioner Hester said he had never seen a house built without a plan, a cost estimate, and a plan for paying to build the house. Vance County voters and property owners have seen a water system built without a plan to pay for a system the majority of property owners have rejected. The commissioners are using property owners taxes to repay the debt for a system the property owners don’t want. Using state tax dollars to buy a HVAC system without knowing how the operating and maintenance cost will be paid is only piling onto the property owners burden. Approval to spend state taxpayers’ dollars to buy an HVAC System should be declined until the farmers market’s management team demonstrates they have the financial capacity to pay the operating and maintenance costs for the system. How many failed lessons of the ‘we build it they will come’ philosophy are needed?
It will be an interesting Monday morning at Post Office with new traffic patterns
One big traffic jam.
Fire trucks at Post office about 1:45 Monday–not sure why.
What new traffic pattern?
I think its the road beside the post office has gone to a one way street now.
Good guess Phil.
Back in September the city council decided to change Belle street to one way. The idea was to improve traffic flow by the Post Office.
Why the city did not announce their intentions last week, is an unknown.
Why the paper or HiH were not informed is also unknown.
Today, we all discovered the Belle is one way from Garnet to Dorsey.
our great president is leading the country in the right direction unemployment is dramatically down gas prices are down the war on terror is down and our country is finally heading in the right direction rich republicans need to pay their fair share so that we can reap the benefits that they do
