Critics of federal spending initiatives often allude with some disdain to the government’s ability to create money. It’s pure coincidence, though, that the first federal building commissioned under the country’s new constitution was intended to do just that. On this date in 1792, President George Washington and Congress established the National Mint in the then capital city of Philadelphia. The mint issued the gold, silver and copper coinage as the legal tender of the young republic. Since building the mint at 7th and Arch Streets, the government moved to Washington and raised many more buildings; a process that continues. In December of last year alone, federal office construction was valued at nearly $3.3 billion out of total federal construction worth more than $24 billion. Good news in today’s paper. The stone blocking progress of Vance County School system is leaving at last. The issues of the school system now rest entirely in the hands of the school board members. The new leader of the school system will either reflect the true view of board members. Either a desire to advance the school system or a desire to continue the schools systems mediocrity.
Do not forget we spent about $16,000.00 for the last search only to have the School Board members toss the applicants aside for the one leaving now. Take a good look at the board and hold them to account. This is truly a do or die choice they will be making.
Hold the Board accountable to do their due diligence.
Rumor has it that the one in place now makes more than any superintendent in the surrounding counties … even Wake County
I don’t believe he has a doctorate.
