Amongst those in attendance at the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting for Community Partners of Hope were Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Rainey, City Tire; Deborah Brown, County Board of Commissioners; local City and County officials/leaders; Community Partners of Hope Board Chair Ron Cava, Pastor First Baptist Church; CPOH Board Members; Charles Turrentine, CPOH Director of Operations; Pastor Joseph Ratliff; HVCC Board Chair Tanya Evans, Duke Energy; John Barnes, Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce President and staff; Chamber Ambassador Michael Bobbitt; HVCC Board Member Gina Dement, Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions; volunteers, friends and other Community Business leaders.
A ribbon cutting was held for Community Partners of Hope to announce the opening of their transitional housing unit that they will now operate in addition to the emergency shelter for homeless men. The house which was gifted to them by Mrs. Nell Wiggins will be known as Hope House. This residence will offer the next level of assistance to men who show promise of becoming self-sufficient contributors to our community. Men who are admitted to Hope House will be assigned trained mentors, and will receive the resources, encouragement, and guidance needed for them to one day live in homes of their own. Many opportunities will be available for individuals, church groups, civic clubs, businesses, etc. to volunteer and provide helpful services to these men.
Community Partners of Hope is committed to transforming the lives of homeless men by uniting community partners to offer these men hope, help, and resources that enable growth into physically, emotionally, financially, and spiritually healthy contributors to their families and the community. We believe that all of us working together can overcome homelessness in Vance County.
