Malayia Glover, a junior at Southern Vance High School, has been selected to attend the Institute for Future Agriculture Leaders (IFAL) at N.C. A&T State University in Greensboro, June 21-26.

The IFAL, which also is held at the same time on the campus of N.C. State University in Raleigh, is a week-long program for rising high school seniors who are academically in the upper third of their classes and interested in the industry of agriculture. To be selected, students also have to be recommended by their county’s Farm Bureau. Attendance is limited to 40 participants per conference.

Participation in IFAL includes an emphasis on career opportunities, emerging technology, citizenship and leadership development. Students will visit the schools of agriculture at both universities, tour research farms and explore university laboratories. They also will visit agribusinesses, participate in leadership development classes, tour the N.C. General Assembly in Raleigh and see the North Carolina offices of the Farm Bureau. During the week, students live in dormitories and eat in dining halls on the campus. Their activities through the week are led by conference counselors, university faculty members and Farm Bureau staff members.

Glover is the daughter of Kevin and LaTonia Glover of Henderson.
