NCDOT crew to close on-ramp as part of I-85 in Vance County improvement project

Raleigh-Beginning June 1, NCDOT contractors will close the I-85 South on-ramp from U.S. 158 Business at the North Garnett Street intersection. The ramp will remain closed until early 2016.

Motorists traveling to I-85 South and the U.S. 158 West bypass from U.S. 158 Business can use a signed detour along U.S.158 Business East (North Garnett Street) to Parham Road, and then use the I-85 southbound on-ramp at Parham Road.

Once the ramp re-opens next year, it will be utilized as an off-ramp for I-85 North while traffic is shifted in a two-lane, two-way pattern on I-85 South.

The work is part of a $137.3 million contract to do improve and upgrade 20.6 miles of I-85 in Vance and Warren Counties. The project will include grading, drainage, paving, installation of guardrails, and bridge replacements and preservation work. The project extends from north of Dabney Road in Vance County to the Virginia State line.
