The MISSION of Vance County Schools is to be committed to educating all students

to prepare them for lifelong learning and productive citizenship.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

The N.C. Read to Achieve test is being administered on Monday to selected third

graders.

The Vance County Board of Education meets on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Board Room of the Administrative Services Center on Graham Avenue in Henderson.

The last day of classes at all schools is Wednesday. Report cards are distributed.

The annual Honor An Educator Breakfast, presented by the Vance County Public School Foundation, will be held Thursday from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the Administrative Services Center.

A meeting with all data managers will be held Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the computer lab of the Administrative Services Center.

Thursday and Friday are teacher workdays at all schools.

Aycock Elementary: (Monday, June 8) – First-grade awards program at 8:30 a.m. Second-grade awards program at 9:45 a.m. Pre-kindergarten awards program at 11:30 a.m. and fifth-grade awards program at 1 p.m.

L.B. Yancey Elementary: (Monday, June 8) – Fifth-grade celebration at 1 p.m.

New Hope Elementary: (Monday, June 8-Tuesday, June 9) – “Field Day” events

Dabney Elementary: (Tuesday, June 9) – Awards Day for students in kindergarten through fourth grade

New Hope Elementary: (Tuesday, June 9) – Pre-kindergarten celebration at 1:30 p.m. and fifth-grade celebration at 6 p.m.

E.O. Young Jr. Elementary: (Tuesday, June 9) – Pre-kindergarten celebration at 9 a.m.

Zeb Vance Elementary: (Tuesday, June 9) – PBIS year-long Block Party at Satterwhite Point on Kerr Lake for students

Aycock Elementary: (Wednesday, June 10) – “Fun Day” for kindergarten through fifth grade

Dabney Elementary: (Wednesday, June 10) – Awards Day assembly for fifth graders

New Hope Elementary: (Wednesday, June 10) – Awards Day assemblies at 8:30 and 9:30 a.m.

Zeb Vance Elementary: (Wednesday, June 10) – Awards assemblies at 8:30 a.m. for pre-kindergarten through second grade and at 10 a.m. for grades 3-4

Aycock Elementary: (Friday, June 12) – School Leadership Team meeting at 9 a.m.

UPCOMING SCHOOL EVENTS

Monday, June 15: New kindergarten entry assessment training for kindergarten and pre-kindergarten teachers in the Board Room of the Administrative Services Center

Monday, June 15-Wednesday, June 17: Teacher workdays

Tuesday, June 16: Critical Incident Update training from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Board Room of the Administrative Services Center for principals, assistant principals, school resource officers, social workers and counselors

Thursday, June 18-Tuesday, June 30: Summer instruction for identified fourth and fifth-grade students in language arts and mathematics from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Aycock Elementary School.

Monday, June 22-Wednesday, July 22: The Vance County Schools’ Summer Reading Camp for identified third graders will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays at Clarke Elementary School.

Tuesday, June 30: The Vance County Board of Education holds a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the Administrative Services Center. The purpose of the meeting will be to close out the school year.

Friday, July 3: Independence Day holiday. All schools and school system offices are closed.
