This fall, Vance County Cooperative Extension will offer a series of seminars to help you become a Successful Gardener! The seminars will be held on Thursday evenings (6:30 to 8:00 pm) at the Vance County Regional Farmers Market, (210 Southpark Dr. in Henderson).
The cost is $15 for all four classes in the series, or $5 each a la carte. Advance registration is REQUIRED. The schedule is as follows:
Class 1, Sep 24: Strategies for Creating & Maintaining a Beautiful Landscape. We will cover the basics of lawn management, soil management, plant selection and plant installation.
Class 2, Oct 1: Raising Fruit in Small Spaces. We will cover which fruit crops perform best and how to raise them.
Class 3, Oct 8: Growing Vegetables in Raised Beds. Learn about the basics of bed construction, planting, scheduling, and care.
Class 4, Oct 15: Pest Management in the Lawn, Garden and Landscape. Learn how to successfully and efficiently manage the insect, disease and weed pests that plague your fruits, vegetables and ornamentals.
