Congresswoman Renee Ellmers: Veterans Job Fair Tuesday!

Recruit-A-Vet Employment Fair This Week!

Weekly Update:
On Tuesday my office will host our fourth annual “Recruit-A-Vet Employment Fair” for veterans, military service members and their families. The event will be held at Fayetteville Technical Community College Student Center, 2201 Hull Road, Fayetteville, NC from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Verizon, Patterson UTI Drilling, City of Fayetteville, Roadmaster Driving School, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, and Kohler Furniture are just a few of the many local and global employers that will be on site to accept resumes and guide veterans through the application process. This job fair is one small way we can give back to the community, encourage growth among local businesses and demonstrate our deep appreciation to our veterans who have served so nobly.

This week we voted in the House to form a select panel to begin investigations into Planned Parenthood. As someone who is a nurse and a mother, I have fully supported the decision to defund Planned Parenthood. But as representatives, our responsibilities are more complex. We are called to do more than just defund this organization. We have a responsibility to produce answers. Our constituents deserve to know how this organization is using federal funds and they deserve to know which medical services they actually provide to women. In forming this select panel, the House will begin finding the facts. Click here to watch my speech on the House floor this week regarding the need for the select panel.

As always, please don’t hesitate to contact my Asheboro, Dunn, or D.C. offices if you need assistance with anything. We are here to serve you!

Video of the Week

This week, I spoke on the floor of the House in support of Congressman Tim Murphy’s legislation, ?#?HR2646? The Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act, of which I am a cosponsor. This is an incredibly important and meaningful bipartisan piece of legislation that will help so many families across this country that are dealing with this issue.  Click here to watch my speech.

Snapshots from the Week

I enjoyed speaking with Chief of Staff of the Army, General Milley, this week at an Army Caucus event. Gen. Milley is the former Commanding General of United States Army Forces Command based at Ft. Bragg so it was great to be able to catch up with him.

It was a pleasure to meet with Tanya Baker Nelson of Hand Of Hope Pregnancy Resource Center when she was in Washington this week for the Angels in Adoption event.
