Even with all of our electronic diversions, many of us listen to radio at some point every day. The wide variety of formats means we can choose our favorite type of music, and radio keeps us up to the minute on news and weather. The presidential election held on this date 95 years ago was the occasion of the first commercial radio broadcast. Station KDKA in Pittsburgh carried the results, in which Warren G. Harding defeated the ticket of James Cox and his vice-presidential nominee Franklin Roosevelt, whose famous radio days lay ahead. Just two years later, that first station was joined by 400 others as the popularity of radio swept the nation. Today, there are some 6,700 radio broadcast establishments, employing over 94,000 people. You can find more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau online at <www.census.gov>.

Let’s see how long before the fact that a detective from the Vance Co. Sherriff’s Dept. got a DUI recently gets reported. A great story……not a good role model!!! Let’s see if it gets the publicity that other arrests have gotten…….time will tell……hope he is suspended!! SMH……….
WOW…..Joey Root-Ferguson has resigned!!! Probably one of those “resign or be fired” deals! Just when you thought you had heard it all…..SMH!!!
Are DUI arrests listed in the newspaper on a regular basis?
The online Dispatch story is interesting. In my opinion, it sounds like the Sheriff White gave him several opportunities to straighten up over the years.
Kudos to the highway patrolman who did not let the “blue shield” stop him from giving the ticket to the drunk deputy. Job well done!!
Sounds to me someone was set up; maybe saw him at the restaurant and called it in. Rumor has it another lawman was with him at the bar
Hmmmm….so he was set up? Did someone sneak up to his table and slip some liquor/beer into his soft drink? Did someone make him get behind the wheel after drinking so much that he was intoxicated? Did someone give him a STUPID pill and say “you can get away with it…you’re a cop”? DUI Charges are often reduced(especially in Dist. 9) so he will probably beat that charge but how DUMB is he to risk his career over not having a Designated Driver? Nobody ever accused COPS of being the smartest people on the planet. Just admit it!!! He made a DUMB decision and paid for it with his law enforcement career!! DUMMY!!!! At least the other lawman that was with him either had a DD or he didn’t get too drunk to drive……its’s called being RESPONSIBLE!!! SMH!!!! @ the excuses you people will throw out!!
The other lawman had a responsibility to tell him he could not drive and shouldn’t drive. And please stop Smacking Your Head; I heard it causes brain damage.
