School Supply Donations at E.O. Young Jr. Elementary

E.O. Young SuppliesStudents at E.O. Young Jr. Elementary School were given early Christmas gifts by leaders of Guiding Star United Holy Church when they brought new school supplies to the school.
The church’s pastor Mary Williams leads a team of “People on a Mission” to help school children. Williams was joined by church members Carolyn Bagley and Elizabeth Hendricks in bringing over 332 items to share with students in need. They collected the items through donations from various businesses and were given a $100 gift card from Walmart to buy additional supplies for students.

Williams, Bagley and Hendricks are shown in the accompanying photo as they give some of the supplies to students and are assisted by Principal Marylaura McKoon, standing at far left.

Along with the many school materials including paper, pencils, notebooks, tissues and book bags, Guiding Star Church also does backpacks for students in need. These backpacks are filled with good and healthy food for identified students to take home over weekends.

Guiding Star United Holy Church is located at 650 Mt. Pleasant Road in Vance County. They have a clothing closet open the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
