Congresswoman Renee Ellemers: A Year of Accomplishments

Photo of the Week

Last weekend I spoke at the ?#?WreathsAcrossAmerica? Wreath Laying Ceremony at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. It was an honor to be in the presence of the military families, veterans and members of Rolling Thunder Chapter 1 NC there to make sure each veteran’s grave was respectfully honored.

Weekly  Update
This past week marked our final legislative week of the 2015 calendar year. On Friday, we passed a budget that will fund the government for 1-year, helping to provide certainty while lessening tax burdens on North Carolina small businesses, farmers and families. This bill makes several tax provisions permanent, including the Research & Development credit, which is critical to many constituents employed by businesses and manufacturers across our state.

This legislation bolsters our military and protects Americans from outside threats, while providing a pay raise for our troops. It also restricts the overreach of bureaucratic agencies like the IRS and the EPA and prevents a taxpayer bailout of Obamacare’s risk corridors program.

I’m also proud to have two components within this bill that mirror legislation I introduced earlier in the year. One provision will allow for disposable medical devices to be covered under Medicare, making these healthcare technologies more accessible to senior citizens receiving in-home care. Another provision is based on legislation I introduced to ensure that reimbursement policies for mammograms do not change based on conflicting breast cancer screening recommendations from several groups.

I hope you all have a safe and wonderful Christmas with your families. Happy Holidays to each of you!

A Report on 2015 Accomplishments

I had a chance to pen an opinion piece in the Asheboro Courier-Tribune detailing my Congressional accomplishments this year. View an excerpt below or click here to read the full piece.

“This year has been busy on all fronts. I have worked alongside my colleagues to restore fiscal sanity, place checks on the president’s imperialistic tendencies and uphold our number one responsibility: to defend this nation against all enemies foreign and domestic.

As a representative and a registered nurse, I have a responsibility to care for the vulnerable. As a conservative, I have an obligation to streamline the healthcare system to improve efficiency, reduce costs and give Americans more control over their healthcare decisions. Additionally, as the representative of Fort Bragg, I have the duty to protect and provide for our service members and our veterans.”

Urging a Full Reimbursement for Sheriff Johnson

I joined Representative Mark Walker in authoring a letter to the Department of Justice requesting they reimburse Alamance County in full for costs of the court case leveraged against Sheriff Terry Johnson. Wreaths Across America

I was privileged to participate in the Wreath Laying Ceremony at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetary. With such a large presence of active military and veterans in the Fayetteville area, it is only fitting that we bring Wreaths Across America to our community. Visiting my Office

I enjoyed meeting with constituents Jane Phillips and Teresa Ennis from Fuquay Varina in my Washington office last week. My staff gave them a tour of the Capitol and they received a pass to visit the White House.
