The spots are filling up for this year’s Henderson Vance Chamber of Commerce Leadership Vance class! Now is the time to get your application in to take part in one of the most comprehensive, enriching and beneficial experiences available to business professionals looking to take the next step as tomorrow’s leaders of the Vance County region.
The 10-session program begins in February with orientation and concludes in June. The cost for participating is $325 for members and $400 for non-Chamber members. Included in this price are all expenses, meals and materials.
The Leadership Vance program is designed to create a group of informed and dedicated leaders who will contribute to the community after graduation. The program informs, challenges and educates the participants on the opportunities and needs of the community and will strengthen their leadership skills while learning about the social, economic, and political dynamics that shape the community.
The exposure to all aspects of the community will provide participants with the historical background and the skills necessary for volunteer civic and community positions. Participants are exposed to various aspects of Henderson and Vance County, specifically in regard to city and county government, health and community resources, economic development, agriculture and natural resources, history and media, and criminal justice and law.
If you talk to any current or former Leadership Vance class members though, what you’ll find is an even better description of the program through story after story about an unmatched experience that gives you a behind-the-scenes look at our area and how it all really works. You’d also find the starting point for lifelong business relationships, friendships and collaborations.
Don’t miss your opportunity to become a part of something great!
An application is attached for any potential participant that should be submitted to the Chamber office no later than Friday, January 22, 2016. Notifications will be made to participants by Friday, February 5, 2016. For more information, please contact Annette Roberson at the Chamber.

Have you seen who represents you on the city council & county commissioners? LEADERSHIP? That is the best joke i have heard in a while!! SMH @ so many citizens are so ignorant in such a small area within NC!!!…..#puppets!!!
By the way, is Peace-Jenkins still delinquent on her taxes on the Church she preaches? If so, why can’t the governing bodies garnish her $$ she gets for occupying a seat @ the council meetings? Just a suggestion since no one else seems to have a better one!! She shouldn’t be allowed to vote on ANY BUDGET until she gets her “house” in order!!!

what does your rant have anything to do with this?
Rant? Is that the only word you know? If so, start using it in the proper context! My point was really simple (even for the trolls of HiH) who love to attack my posts. Show me a LEADER on any governing body…city or county. They are puppets who have their strings pulled by the “power brokers” a.k.a. “old $$” in the city/county!! I’m beginning to wonder can any of the many haters on HiH can see the forests through the trees! # SMH. #politicalpuppets

Is ranting the only way you know how to communicate? Your rant has nothing to do with the Leadership Vance. If you’d get your head out of your @ss and pay attention to the *good* in Henderson you’d read this is about bringing young people in the community to see what a leadership role is like, network with others, and give them opportunity to do better than turning into the likes of you.
