Congresswoman Renee Ellmers: Growing Economic Opportunities in Sanford

Photo of the Week

Turnout for the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Sanford Buggy Factory was huge! It was an honor to speak at such a one-of-a-kind ceremony in downtown Sanford. This ceremony is a perfect example of how revitalization and historic preservation can enhance our community. This newly-renovated facility will provide a “one-stop-shop” for economic growth and development in Sanford, as it will house several agencies focused on developing, growing and enhancing Sanford.

Weekly Update
Monday began with a ribbon cutting ceremony at Sanford’s Historic Buggy Factory to celebrate several city, local and county agencies co-locating in one building. The Buggy Factory building sat vacant for upwards of 30 years, so this revitalization project to co-locate the Sanford/Lee County Planning Department, the Sanford Area Growth Alliance, and other agencies will significantly help to shape economic life in downtown Sanford.

This will allow Sanford to provide a new level of support for existing businesses while fostering the pro-growth and pro-jobs business climate that already exists there. I am confident that this partnership between city and county government will become a model of success emulated across our state.

The end of my week was capped with an award presentation to an Asheboro High School student, James Willett. He is the recipient of the Congressional Award Bronze Medal. The Congressional Awards program allows for students to set individual goals to fulfil in the areas of public service, personal development and physical fitness. It was an honor to present him with a well-deserved award.

Growing Economic Opportunities in Sanford

It was great to be in Sanford to talk with local officials and business owners attending  the ribbon cutting about how projects like the Historic Buggy Factory are a great example of the type of forward-thinking that our state – and our nation—need more of!

Recognizing Student Achievement

An impressive award for an impressive young man! It was an honor to present 15-year-old James Willett with the Congressional Award Bronze Medal (pictured above) in my Asheboro office this week.

Celebrating Women’s History Month

It is such a pleasure serving as the Chairwoman of the Republican Women’s Policy Committee (RWPC). During this month, GOP women in the House are highlighting their accomplishments and goals of women across the country. I hope you will visit the RWPC website to read about the work Republican women in the House are doing on the issues that matter to you, including national security, jobs and economic growth, poverty and upward mobility, health care, and restoring Constitutional authority.

#NC02FoodTour
What is your favorite place to eat in NC02? Below are photos of some Harnett County spots you’ll find on the campus of Campbell University. The next time you Facebook, Tweet or Instagram a picture of your favorite meal or restaurant in the district, use the hashtag #NC02FoodTour and you might see your photo shared on one of my social media sites!

Campbell has always had a lot to be proud of, but the latest includes transforming their Chick-fil-A from an express store into a full service restaurant.  All of Harnett county and the surrounding area can rejoice and “Eat Mor Chikin”.

It looks almost too good to eat!  Campus Grill in Buies Creek makes magic happen in their kitchen.  Pictured above is their “Gene’s spicy burger” and “Camel bites,” also known as fried macaroni and chesse!

You could say that Campus Grill is the local watering hole of Campbell’s campus, but you don’t have to be a Campbell student or faculty to enjoy.  Add this to your list of Harnett County spots to check out!
