Vance County Commissioners have been asked to be accountable for Vance County Animal Control’s activities.
Vance County Commissioners have similarly been asked to make significant changes in how VCAC fulfills its mission.
The Animal Advisory Committee to the Board has been asked to comment on these requests.
You are earnestly invited to attend this meeting on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Courthouse Annex.
Some of the requests include incorporating trap-neuter-return as the primary method of humane population control for feral cats rather than trapping and gassing, acting as animal shelter, which is consistent with taxpayers’ expectations, rather than routinely gassing healthy cats, kittens, dogs and puppies within hours of arrival, spaying and neutering of companion animals being adopted before leaving the facility, and spaying and neutering of claimed impounded animals before return to owner, and designation of safe sites.
The full presentation to and requests made of the Vance County Commissioners can be viewed under the August 3, 2009 Vance County Commissioner’s meeting entry.
Thank you.
Margaret J. Peck,
Vance County
