The City of Henderson’s Public Works Department loose leaf collection staff officially started collecting leaves raked to the street on November 2, 2009.
Prior to starting collection, a schedule was set up for pick up on each street within the city every two-to-three weeks. However, due to the significant and frequent amount of rainfall causing a wet condition of the leaves, the normal collection rate of leaves has been slowed, and the planned schedule impossible to keep. The leaf vacuum machines are less efficient when the leaves are wet and much harder to pick up.
Our leaf crews are working six days a week to collect leaves, and the Street Division crews are using tractors and loaders with dump trucks to assist the leaf crews in collecting loose leaves.
Bagged leaves are being collected on a daily basis. Please continue to use clear bags.
We ask for your patience and cooperation with our crews. Please feel free to contact our office at 252.431.6115 or 252.431.6118 with any questions you may have concerning leaf collection.
