Raleigh -— Rep. Michael H. Wray has been appointed by House Speaker Joe Hackney to an advisory committee that helps manage the natural resources of the Roanoke River Basin.
The Roanoke River Basin Advisory Committee works with a similar group in Virginia to advise the Roanoke River Basin Bi-State Commission on resource issues.
“The Roanoke River, Kerr Lake and their tributaries are of critical interest and importance to the people in my district,” Wray said. “I’m pleased to have a place on this committee so that I can share their concerns with the people who make decisions about the future of our region.”
Wray replaces former Rep. Lucy Allen on the committee. Rep. James Crawford and Rep. Edith Warren are also members of the committee.
Wray is a small business owner in his third term representing Northampton, Vance and Warren counties. He is chairman of the Insurance Committee and vice chairman of the Wildlife Resources Committee and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Natural and Economic Resources. He is also a member of the Agriculture; Appropriations; Commerce, Small Business and Entrepreneurship and Transportation committees.
