Henderson Police Officers responded to Eaton Johnson Middle School located at 500 N. Beckford Drive in Henderson, North Carolina in response to a call reporting a person with a gun.
Officers arrived and found Eric Shyaiem Kelly, 16, of 757 David Street in Henderson seated inside a counselor’s office. Officers received information that Kelly was armed with a handgun. Upon checking Kelly, officer’s located an unloaded chrome .22 caliber revolver.
Kelly was taken into custody and transported to the Vance County Magistrate’s Office. Kelly was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon by a minor, altering a serial number and possession of a weapon on school property.

Kelly was placed in the Vance County Jail after failing to post a $10,000 secured bond. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 1, 2011 in Vance County District Court.
