Vance County Tax Administrator Sam Jones reported to the Vance County Board of Commissioners on Monday night regarding tax collection efforts for the month of March.
Jones reported that collections were “a little ahead of where it was last year”.
Jones told commissioners, “Hope we’re on a schedule to do better than we did last year.”
County Commissioner Dan Brummitt asked if the uncollected balance for 1995 was written off.
Jones replied that it was.
Taxes that are delinquent more than ten years are not collectable under North Carolina law.
Brummitt then asked Jones if he was working on the 1996 balance in terms of foreclosure.
Jones replied that he was.
Brummitt then queried Jones about information he had requested in February. Jones replied that he and Brummitt had a meeting tomorrow, and asked if they could discuss it then.
