In a unanimous vote, the Vance County Board of Commissioners approved the lease-purchase of twelve vehicles for the Sheriff’s Office.
The County will purchase eleven Ford Crown Victorias at $21,092 each and one Ford Explorer for $23,453.
The County also approved the expenditure of $39,230 for equipment, striping, and labor to change equipment from old patrol cars to new ones.
With taxes and charges for tags, the total price tag of the purchase is $302,431.
County Manager Jerry Ayscue told commissioners that the contract was for four years at an interest rate of 3.69%. The contract is with BB&T.
Commissioner Eddie Wright moved that the vehicles be acquired, with Commissioner Scott Hughes seconding the motion.
Board member Danny Wright asked Ayscue how many bids had been received.
Ayscue replied, “Two, possibly three.”
