Starting Friday, October 21st through midnight Sunday October 23rd HiH will be having a weekend contest. Simply comment on our open lines (in this thread) during this time frame and Monday morning we will draw a random commenter’s name. That lucky person will win a brand new, custom made stylus courtesy of Sachs Woodcrafts. Louis Sachs of Sachs Woodcrafts lives right here in Henderson, and makes custom wooden bowls, cutting boards, magnifying glasses, duck calls, ice cream scoopers, stylus, and more. One of his latest creations is this custom made stylus. A stylus is a device like a pen that you can use on your touchscreen device, like a mobile phone, music player, tablet, or pretty much any other electronic device with a screen that you would touch to use. These custom made stylus’s are crafted out of wood, with a metal clip on one end, and a rubber tip on the other you would use to touch the device with. The length is about 4.5 inches and they are quite thicker than just a cheapo BIC pen. This item is great for those that don’t want to grease up your screen from finger oils, or for those people with large fingers that can’t hit the smaller buttons properly, or any other use you could find for them. You can see a collection of various styles in our image here. Note that you will only win ONE stylus! The lucky winner will receive an e-mail to their email address on file with a gift certificate for the pen.
You can either use that gift certificate directly with Mr. Sachs, or alternatively Mr. Sachs will drop one off at our office and you can pick it up from the HiH office by coming in and providing us your username and your registered email address. The downside to this is you are showing me who you are, but you can send a proxy if you’d like.
This stylus normally goes for just under $27.00 so it’s a great gift for a Christmas present, or to yourself! Please visit Sachs Woodcraft’s website and like his facebook page.

for yardwork – call charles in henderson – 252.529.1720 or 252.492.5629 – i have been using him for bout 5 years, he is good and professional.
Why is the grant for Weed & Seed 2008 still active? My only thought is that there is still money avaliable from that fiscal year.
Jackball: thank you for the tip!
I’ve got an off the wall question. Does anyone know of any craft shows coming up in Vance county in the next 2 months?
If I recall correctly–at one point there was some sort of problem regarding expenditures on weed and seed. If there is money left over (I doubt it–that’s my opinion) it should go back to funding for needed present issues.
Ok, through a highly scientific method of writing all of these names down on a piece of paper, cutting them out, throwing them up in the air, letting them land on the floor and asking my 4 year old to pick one and bring to me, Mr. Mojo Risin is the winner of a Sachs Woodcrafts Stylus. Please check your email shortly to find more details Mr. Mojo Risin.
AngelClay, there is the ‘Oktoberfest’ event in downtown Henderson on November 5th. to get a booth, call 430-5734. we have not yet posted this event on our calendar, but will shortly.
Thanks Phil. On the 5th I will be at the Holiday Art Market that the Granville Arts Council is hosting. I will keep it in mind for next year though.
