This weeks President’s Weekly Address: America is Open for Business – President Obama tells the American people about a series of steps he’s taken without the help of Congress to grow the economy and create jobs — including a new strategy aimed at boosting tourism introduced this week. In next week’s State of the Union Address, the President will outline his blueprint for creating an economy built to last.
Welcome to the West Wing Week, your guide to everything that’s happening at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. This week, the President called for government reform through reorganization and a new Cabinet Position, honored Martin Luther King, Jr, welcomed the Tuskegee Airmen, the King of Jordan and the 2011 World Series Champs, and traveled to the Magic Kingdom to unveil the latest “We Can’t Wait” action to aid job creation through executive action. That’s January 13th to January 19th or “The time is always right to do what is right.”
One more White House message: on Tuesday, tomorrow night, President Obama will host a State of the Union speech to the public starting at 9pm. Like last year, they will be streaming an enhanced version of the speech that features graphics, data and stats that highlight the issues the President is discussing on Whitehouse.gov/sotu. We will also live stream that broadcast through the White House Live App on Facebook, YouTube and our new Google+ page. In our news receiving department this past week, we count an estimate 389 jobs created by just 5 companies in North Carolina during upcoming expansions and openings. Lowes, Bronto, Powersecure, Spinrite Services and Piedmont Propulsion. None of them are near here, but at least there are signs of some recovery in our state.
