The good ole boys are out again, beating their drums and blowing their own horns, hoping to convince our good citizens to follow the “new direction” instead of the “right direction.”
These self-serving, self-proclaimed, power brokers actually believe that they can lead intelligent people to the polls like sheep to the slaughter. I for one give our citizenry a lot more credit for knowing the difference between those pseudo leaders who have personal, business agendas and those candidates who genuinely care about the betterment of our city and all of its residents.
We, the taxpaying residents, must not allow special interests to elect a city council that will merely be the “rubber stamp” for their personal economic development plans. Wolves in “sheep’s clothing” can be a very dangerous thing. If these “new direction” illusionists truly know what’s best for our city, why must they pull strings from behind smoke and mirrors to operate their puppets. These so-called civic-minded leaders claim to have the solutions to all of our city’s problems yet they are not running for public office themselves!
The “right direction” supporters believe in an open forum where elected officials represent the best interests of the community by keeping ALL residents informed on important issues. The “new direction” proponents would like to use the city coffers and personnel to drive their personal economic development machines, preferably without your knowledge.
They will invest your tax dollars for returns that will go into their pockets.
We MUST vote in this upcoming municipal election to continue the CURRENT momentum for improving not only the appearance and functions of our city but also the quality of life for its residents. The “right direction” will “stay the course” by maintaining responsible spending policies that will provide necessary and essential services for all of us. We cannot allow ourselves to be taken back to the days of tax increases every year to pay for irresponsible, out-of-control spending with no regard for fiscal consequences.
Sincerely,
