HPD seizes counterfeit merchandise


Sgt. S.R. Spence of the Henderson Police Department Highway Traffic Safety Unit reported that on July 17, 2008, members of the unit along with the Secretary of State’s office conducted a search and seizure of a tractor-trailer which yielded more than $185,000 of counterfeit merchandise which was destined for North Carolina local markets.

Also, on July 17, 2008, members of the same agencies conducted two additional searches of the following business establishments that were known for selling counterfeit merchandise:

New York Super Styles, 1143 E. Andrews Ave., $50,000 of counterfeit merchandise seized.

Outline Fashions, 121 S. Garnett St., $25,000 of counterfeit merchandise seized.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Chow Ho of Elmhurst, New York, was charged with felony possession of counterfeit trademarked goods. His bond was set at $25,000 and his initial court appearance is scheduled for September 15, 2008 in Vance County District Court.

Charges in the other two cases are still pending.
