Council reschedules meeting to August 18

Public hearings rescheduled without Henderson City Council action

This from Acting Henderson City Clerk Beverly Jackson:

The Council meeting scheduled for August 11, 2008 is rescheduled for August 18, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in The City of Henderson Council Chambers. All business that was scheduled to be transacted will be on the August 18 Council Agenda.

Although the appropriate notice for four public hearings that were originally scheduled for August 11, 2008 was provided in the August 7, 2008 edition of The Daily Dispatch, the public hearings have been rescheduled without official action from the Henderson City Council.

The public hearings involve the closeout of the 2005 CDBG Concentrated Needs Grant, a zoning request by Sam Watkins, a zoning request by Richard A. Branch, and a second public hearing on a grant application through the auspices of the city for the Embassy Block Project.

It is unclear whether or not the Council is legally required to take formal action to change the date of the public hearings.

Although the legal notice for the hearing on the Embassy Block Project grant stated that application materials were available from the city’s Planning & Community Development Department, Erris Dunston, the director of that department told Home in Henderson yesterday after it made a request for that paperwork that the materials would not be available until next week.
