City rules for collection of loose leaves

This from Linda Leyen, Director of the Public Works Department for the City of Henderson:

Loose leaf collection within the City of Henderson begins October 15, 2008 and will end January 14, 2008.

Citizens may choose one of two ways to have leaves collected from their residence by city staff.

1. Loose Leaves

A. Leaves must be raked behind the curb (not into storm drains or gutters of the street)

B. Leaves must be free of limbs and other yard debris.

C. Leaves must be free of trash.

2. Bagged Leaves

A. Bags must be CLEAR plastic. These bags may be purchased from the City.

B. The cost will be 10 bags for $2.25. Bags are being sold at the Operations Center, 900 S. Beckford Drive or the City Hall Water Billing Office, 134 Rose Avenue.

C. Bags must weigh less than 50 lbs. and be placed behind the curb for pick up.

Loose and bagged leaves will be picked up on a two week rotation throughout the city. The city will operate three trucks and leaf machines for the collection of leaves. These trucks will be given routes to collect on a weekly basis. No pick ups outside of the routes will be done unless there are extenuating circumstances.
