Dabney Drive office robbed

A lone gunman robbed a Dabney Drive insurance and financial services business Tuesday afternoon, Henderson police reported.

According to a news release from Sgt. J.K. Garner, the bandit made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot about 1:30, said an employee who was alone in the Tate & Associates building at 1028 Dabney Drive.

Like many Dabney businesses, Tate is in a converted house. Located across from Oakdale Drive near Henderson Mall, the building has three signs in front: a large, black sign for the business, which dates to 1970; a “for rent” sign; and a “Stop Violence Now” sign from the Vance County Coalition Against Violence.

No one was hurt in the robbery, which the employee reported at 2:05 p.m. By that time the trail was cold, and officers could not find a suspect. The only description of the robber is that he is a white man.

Officer B. Montgomery was the initial responding officer. Detectives are continuing the investigation.

Crimestoppers at 492-1925 will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this and other crimes. Callers may remain anonymous, and all information is confidential.
