Agenda is as follows:
- CALL TO ORDER
- ROLL CALL
- NEW BUSINESS
- a) Presentation of Proposed FY 2014-2015 Budget (Materials to be distributed during meeting)
- IV. ADJOURNMENT
The City’s budget includes a 5% increase in the Water Fund. That 5% translates into a 5% increase in the Vance County water rate as well.
We have got to have some of the highest water / sewer rates in the state of N.C. I need a well and johnny house.
actually, the city water rate is very good, compared locally and around the state. sewer rates are comparable locally, a little higher than some. sewer and water rates for those on the city system but outside the city limits are baaaad.. Maybe Michael can post the chart the city manager always uses to show rates for Henderson and surrounding cities/counties.
i think most people get confused because their WATER bill, actually UTILITY bill is high, but remember, the city UTILITY bill includes water (low), sewer ( average+), recycling ( a couple of bucks), garbage pickup with Waste Industries( 10 bucks or so), and then additional dollars added for/and include $$ for long term debt, such as Rec center, Police station, public works bldg, etc. The city council has, over some time, added to sanitation charges on the ( UTILITY) bill rather than increase property tax, thus the inflated bill many call the WATER bill.

Mingo the chart of page 23 is that what you are referencing. Mingo if you have the contact and time ask Mr. Griffin to post his PowerPoint presentation that he used last night.
Be thankful you aren’t paying the water rates in Arizona, Texas or any arid state. It is what it is. Our actual water rate is low; sewage and sanitation are the costly charges.
