On Tuesday, September 02, 2014, members of the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Unit and the Operations Division arrested Markeith Hart. Hart, 18, 640 Ransom Street, Henderson was charged by way of a criminal complaint with the following offenses: Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; Possession of a firearm not registered in the National Firearm Registration and Transfer Record (possession of a sawed off shotgun).
Hart was placed in the Vance County Jail without privilege of bond pending transfer of custody to the United States Marshall Service. Hart will have an initial appearance in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina tomorrow.
This is another of a series of arrest resulting from an ongoing investigation into heroin and firearm trafficking in the Henderson area. The investigation is being conducted by the Henderson Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Additional arrests are forthcoming.
I hate 2 continue “beating this dead horse” but here we have another black male’s mugshot. Is anyone in Vance Co. brave enough 2 ask your Sheriff why christa harris & her 100+ Felony Charges didn’t have her lil’ picture taken? Did they even fingerprint her? If not, I agree w/Mrs. Jones from the Townsville area in her statement that the Sheriff needs 2 go on home 2 & enjoy his retirement. It seems as if anyone charged w/100+ Felonies would @ least have a mugshot & be fingerprinted!!!!
I will try 2 contact a representative from the atty. generals office & ask is this normal procedure? Stay tuned…….

Say what u want but as I type this post I am waiting on a call to be returned from NC Atty. General’s office. I called & had to leave a message. My question was is it a LAW that anyone charged with a felony in NC has to be fingerprinted & mugshot taken……..as soon as I get a call back from NC Atty General’s Office I will post what I was told.

After being told by a secretary @State Atty. General’s Office that I would get a call back from an atty after lunch I never heard anything….left my cell & work #’s…..Govt. @ its best.
Decided 2 call NC Sheriff’s Association w/same ? & lady who answered the phone when I asked was it normal procedure 2 get mugshot & fingerprinted when facing over 100 Felonies relating 2 embezzlement & receiving property by false pretense in sums of $400k she quickly said Lord Yes before she caught herself & tried 2 transfer me to someone else. While in the process of being transferred I lost phone connection & decided I had heard enough!!! U decide 4 yourself!!!
Deception. As I have stated before, why dont you ask your African-American sheriff? It seems he would know the answer. It wad his dept. that arrested her.
Our sheriff’s policy regarding the publication of a “mug shot” appears to be based on a very quaint philosophy; that an individual arrested and charged with a felony is presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Our legal system is also based on this quaint philosophy and requires the accuser to prove the accused is guilty.
For fairness the accuser and the accused are provided time to prepare for the trial. The time between arrest and trail is a sort of limbo for the accused. During this time of limbo the accused is free to be among all the other individuals in society as long as the accused post bond. Bond is a sort of monetary symbol indicating intentions of the accused to appear in court of law a future date to stand trial on the charges presented by the sheriff. Some accused individuals are not permitted to post a bond; that is a whole other topic.
As far as I can ascertain our sheriff’s policy is to withhold publication of “mug shots” of those free on bond.

Here is what I did; about four years ago I stopped going to franchise restaurants. It was my way of protesting poor service and poor food quality. I hope my efforts will help you achieve whatever is your goal.

I agree with Deception 100%. It is utterly ridiculous at this point to not realize either a racial, political, or “class” bias going on. I’m white and even I can see that, lol. As for this guy who just got popped with these charges, he is looking at a MINIMUM of 5 years in prison JUST for the weapon by a felon charge. That is a federal manadatory minimum for that charge. Unlike the state prison system, federal charges have teeth, meaning they have true minimum punishments. Why don’t people learn than drugs doesn’t pay? So young and his life is ruined. Of course, it’s his own fault but our prisons are slam full of young adults with too much testosterone and not enough common sense.
