ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWS

The MISSION of Vance County Schools is to be committed to educating all students

to prepare them for lifelong learning and productive citizenship.

 

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

The Vance County Board of Education will meet on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Board Room of the Administrative Services Center on Graham Avenue in Henderson.

 

Teacher Talk session for first and second-year teachers on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Board Room of the Administrative Services Center.

 

Salvation Army representatives will pick up donations from schools for the annual Canned Food Drive on Tuesday and Wednesday.

 

 

An administrative staff meeting with all principals and central office department directors will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Board Room of the Administrative Services Center.

 

SCHOOL EVENTS FOR THIS WEEK

 

Dabney Elementary: (Monday, December 8) – Faculty meeting at 3:15 p.m.

 

Aycock Elementary: (Monday, December 8-Friday, December 12) – Christmas Store is open

 

Aycock Elementary: (Tuesday, December 9) – All second graders participate in “Save Our Kids” water safety classes in the afternoon at the Aycock Recreation Center.

 

Aycock Elementary: (Thursday, December 11) – All second graders participate in “Save Our Kids” water safety classes in the afternoon at the Aycock Recreation Center. A PTA meeting will be held at 7 p.m. with fourth and fifth-grade students performing a holiday program. The PTA Christmas Store will be open from 5 to 7 p.m.

 

Clarke Elementary: (Thursday, December 11) – PTA meeting and winter concert

 

L.B. Yancey Elementary: (Friday, December 12) – Cattle Express

 

Zeb Vance Elementary: (Friday, December 12) – First-grade field trip to “Disney on Ice” in Raleigh

Monday, December 15: Leadership Team meeting at 3:30 p.m. at Zeb Vance Elementary.

 

Tuesday, December 16: All second graders participate in “Save Our Kids” water safety classes in the afternoon at the Aycock Recreation Center at Aycock Elementary.

 

Tuesday, December 16: Tavern Christmas Around the World program at 6 p.m.at L.B. Yancey Elementary.

 

Wednesday, December 17: Annual holiday celebration for students in Exceptional Children’s classes at Clarke Elementary.

 

Wednesday, December 17: Parenting Class led by Valerie Hairston, counselor, on “Managing Money” from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Zeb Vance Elementary.

 

Thursday, December 18: PTO meeting and Christmas program at 6 p.m. at Carver Elementary.

 

Thursday, December 18: Dabney Involvement Group meeting and Christmas program at 7 p.m. at Dabney Elementary.

 

Thursday, December 18: Fifth graders attend Eaton-Johnson Show Choir Concert at Eaton-Johnson at 9 a.m. at E.O. Young Jr. Elementary.

 

Friday, December 19: Polar Express Day at Aycock Elementary.

 

Friday, December 19: Holiday program performed during the school day at Zeb Vance Elementary.

 

Monday, December 22-Friday, January 2: Christmas break for students

 

Monday, December 22-Tuesday, December 23: Annual leave days for employees

 

Wednesday, December 24-Friday, December 26: Christmas holidays. All schools and school system offices are closed.

 

Monday, December 29-Wednesday, December 31: Annual leave days for employees

 

Thursday, January 1: New Year’s Day holiday. All schools and school system offices are closed.

 

Friday, January 2: Annual leave day for employees

 

Friday, January 16: End of first semester, except at Early College High

 

Monday, January 19: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. All schools and school system offices are closed.

 

Tuesday, January 20-Wednesday, January 21: Teacher workdays, except at Early College High. No school for students.

 

Thursday, January 29: Report cards are distributed
