WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman G. K. Butterfield (NC-01) today released the following statement on the passing of former director of Alumni Relations and active North Carolina Central University (NCCU) alumnus, Roger Roy Gregory:
“It is with a heavy heart that I express sadness over the passing of my longtime friend and fellow NCCU alumnus, Mr. Roger Roy Gregory. Roger was well known by the Durham community for his philanthropic work and steadfast commitment to his beloved alma mater, NCCU. He was the founding chairman of the African American Leadership Initiative of Greater Durham and Wake County, a life member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and held seats on several boards in the Durham area. His presence will be sorely missed. I extend my sympathies to his family during this very difficult time.”
