Butterfield Names New Press Team


today announced that he has named Meaghan Lynch as his new press secretary and Jordun Lawrence as his press assistant.  Both Lynch and Lawrence will be based in the Washington, DC office and will handle all communications and media relations for the Congressman.

Lynch most recently worked as senior associate at a strategic communications firm in Washington, DC, where she focused primarily on military health issues.  Originally from Rocky Mount, NC, Lynch previously interned in Congressman Butterfield’s Washington, D.C. office.  Lynch holds a degree in Psychology and Communication from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, as well as a law degree from Howard University School of Law.  She is a member of the Maryland State Bar.

“I am pleased to have Meaghan join my team,” said Butterfield.  “Meaghan’s experience in both communications and policy will help serve the needs of North Carolina’s First Congressional District.”

Lawrence, originally from Morgantown, NC, most recently served as legislative correspondent for Congressman Butterfield, handling constituent outreach and correspondence in the Congressman’s Washington, D.C. office.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

“Since joining the office, Jordun has proven herself to be a valuable member of my team,” said Butterfield.  “I look forward to her continuing to serve North Carolinians in her new capacity as Press Assistant.“
