The Oxford news blog Your Voice in Oxford.com debuted on July 29, 2009.
The blog was started by Carole and Jim Jackson, who retired to Oxford three years ago. Since moving to Oxford, they’ve spent a great deal of time learning about their adopted hometown, knowledge that will be put to good use on their news blog.
The purpose of the community service blog is to keep Oxford and Granville County residents informed about the goings-on both in town and out.
“We’re grateful to a good friend for suggesting it and grateful to Home in Henderson‘s Jason Feingold for his encouragement,” Carole told HiH in a recent email.
For our part, we’re delighted to welcome Your Voice in Oxford.com to the growing community of non-traditional, on-line news blogs. Independent news blogs provide an insight into local affairs that no other medium, not even talk radio, can hope to equal because of its potential as a discussion forum for any and all points of view.
“We hope Your Voice in Oxford.com will be informative,” said Jim. “We hope it will contribute to the betterment of the community. And we hope it will be fun!”
We’ll withhold comment on that last part.
HiH will be providing a permanent link to the Oxford site under “Other Media” in the left margin of the HiH screen.
