On August 3, 2009 at approximately 2:48 p.m. officers of the Henderson Police Department responded to the 500 block of Spring Street in reference to someone shot.
Upon arrival, it was learned that the victim, Albert Bowers, 21, of Plum Nutty Road in Henderson, North Carolina was taken by personal vehicle to the Maria Parham Medical Center.
Bowers was treated at the hospital for a gunshot wound to his back and later transferred to another facility for further treatment.
After an investigation by members of the Criminal Investigations Division, Kareem Welfare and Saleem Welfare of 83 Jack Court Lane in Henderson were arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. Both suspects were placed under a $75,000 bond pending an August 17, 2009 court appearance.
