VCS dropout rates down
North Carolina high schools reported that 4.97 percent of students dropped out of school during the 2007-08 academic year, according to the 2007-08 Dropout Report presented to the State Board of Education yesterday morning.

NC students take more, better AP exams
Thousands more North Carolina students now take and succeed on Advanced Placement (AP) exams than in 2003, according to a report released by the College Board today. President signs children’s health bill
Washington, D.C. -— U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) today voted to pass legislation to provide health care for an additional 136,000 children in North Carolina. The House approved H.R. 2, the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act, by a vote of 290 to 135.
