Gas leak on Beckford Drive
** Update ** A building site on Beckford Drive (near the City Operations Center) was evacuated earlier today due to a gas leak. Traffic on Beckford Drive and parts of Dabney Drive was snarled as motorists were diverted away from the scene. At this time, the leak as been closed. Traffic has resumed a normal pattern.
VGCC requests funding for potential health building
Vance-Granville Community College President Randy Parker requested a commitment from the Vance County Board of Commissioners for funding of a potential allied health science building.

County makes plans for hard times
County Manager Jerry Ayscue reported during Monday’s regular meeting of the Vance County Board of Commissioners that the county is “on track from a financial standpoint”.
Election Day open line

Johnston Co. educator wins “teaching Oscar”
Bryan Holley, a fourth grade teacher at Corinth-Holders Elementary School (Johnston County Public Schools), received this past Wednesday what some call the “Oscar of Teaching” when he was named North Carolina’s 2008 Milken Family Foundation National Educator award recipient.

Armed robbery with a deadly weapon On October 27, 2008 at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Henderson Police Department was dispatched to ACW Insurance Co. at 1445 Dabney Drive in reference to a robbery in progress.
Shooting at Henderson Heights Apartments
**Corrected** On October 28, 2008 Casslo Henderson of 624 Flint Street was shot while on the parking lot of Henderson Heights Apartments.

HPD seeks purse snatchers
On September 17, 2008 around 3:00 p.m., a woman had her pursed snatched from her arm while in the parking lot of Food Lion on Dabney Drive.
