VGCC offers class on Decorating Cakes with Fondant
A class being offered for the first time at Vance-Granville Community College will teach area residents how to take their cakes to another level. “Cake Decorating: Fondant” is scheduled for Tuesday evenings from 6 until 8 p.m., Sept. 10 through Oct. 15. The classes will meet in room 5227 on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County. Glen Raven of Norlina was recently selected to receive an “E3” scholarship through North Carolina State University’s Industrial Extension Service, based on recommendations by local partnering organizations, including Vance-Granville Community College. Current version of GED Test near expiration, VGCC officials warn
Vance-Granville Community College is reminding area adults who have started but not completed the GED that the current version of the test, known as the 2002 Series GED Test, will expire at the end of the year. The national GED Testing Service will replace that series with a new version on Jan. 2, 2014. Congressman George Holding Visits VGCC
U.S. Representative George Holding visited the main campus of Vance-Granville Community College near Henderson on Aug. 22. It was the first visit to the college by Holding, who is in his first term representing North Carolina’s 13th congressional district, which includes parts of Vance, Granville and Franklin counties. Over 1.5 Million Students Head to School in North Carolina

NC’s 2013 ACT Score Reflects 100 Percent Participation
ACT Inc. today released state and national average college admission test scores for the 2013 Graduating Class, including North Carolina’s first average scores since the state began requiring 100 percent of high school juniors to take the college admission test. Two new Vice Presidents named at VGCC

Steven Graham of Oxford, N.C. was named Vice President of Finance and Operations, while Stacey Carter-Coley of Apex, N.C. joined the college in March as Vice President of Employee and Public Relations.
