VGCC Practical Nursing Graduates receive pins
Vance-Granville Community College honored 26 students who have completed its one-year Practical Nursing program during a pinning ceremony on Aug. 2 in the Civic Center on the college’s Main Campus. Do you have a question about recently-passed legislation that may affect public schools? VGCC recognizes Medical Assisting students at Pinning
Vance-Granville Community College held a pinning ceremony for its 2012 Medical Assisting program graduates on Aug. 3 at the college’s Franklin County Campus in Louisburg, where the program is conducted. NC Schools Receive Grant to Cover AB/IB Test Fees
Thanks to a grant and supplemental funds from the U.S. Department of Education, every eligible North Carolina high school student taking an Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) exam this year will have his or her test fees covered. As a part of the federal Advanced Placement Test Fee Program, the N.C. Vance-Granville Community College is now registering students for an upcoming class about Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD). The “AutoCAD LT” course will be held on Wednesday nights, Sept. 5 through Dec. 12, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on VGCC’s Main Campus in Vance County. Eligibility Guidelines for Free or Reduced-Price Meals in School Lunch Program Announced
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction recently announced the 2012-13 United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) policy for free and reduced-price meals for children enrolled in North Carolina’s public schools. The USDA’s school meals programs help ensure all students have access to nutritious meals at school. Vance County Schools: ABC Results and Graduation Rates
The N.C. Department of Public Instruction today released results of students’ performance on state end-of-grade and end-of-course testing administered in the spring of the 2011-2012 school year for public schools across the state, including students in Vance County Schools. Vance County Schools – New STEM Middle School Opening August 27th
The Vance County Early High School/STEM Program (EHS2P) will open to approximately 100 sixth graders on August 27, at Northern Vance High School for the 2012-2013 school year. Vance-Granville Community College recently honored eight students who completed the Certified Nursing Assistant I program at the college’s South Campus in Granville County. Their graduation ceremony was held on July 25 at South Campus. South Campus Director Derrick Cameron welcomed and congratulated the graduates. Vance County Schools – Federal Waiver for Services
Vance County Schools will not be offering School of Choice transfers or Supplemental Educational Services (SES) for students for the 2012-2013 school year due to the No Child Left Behind federal waiver secured by North Carolina public schools. The deployments of laptop computers for high school students in Vance County Public Schools are scheduled to begin this week. The Vance-Granville Community College Board of Trustees held its regular bimonthly meeting on Monday, July 16 at the college’s Henderson campus. Western Vance High School Earns Accreditation
Eric Pierce, principal of Western Vance High School, has announced that the school earned continuing accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), an accreditation division of AdvanceED. This action was taken at the national AdvanceED Accreditation Commission meeting recently. Western Vance has been accredited since 2004. VGCC ranked among top N.C. Community Colleges in annual report card
Vance-Granville Community College passed all of the state’s performance measures with flying colors during the 2010-2011 academic year, according to this year’s Critical Success Factors report, which was recently released by the N.C. Community College System office. VGCC’s scores met or exceeded all of the state standards in the report.
