N.C. Forest Service finds laurel wilt disease in New Hanover County
RALEIGH — The N.C. Forest Service has confirmed that laurel wilt, a devastating disease of redbay and other plants in the laurel family, has been identified in New Hanover County in an area near the western edge of Wilmington. The disease has been identified across the Southeast in portions of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Triple Bridge Replacement Project Starts Monday in Granville County
RALEIGH — Work gets under way on Monday, May 13, on an N.C. Department of Transportation project to replace three bridges just 2/10ths of a mile apart over Beaver Dam Creek on Brassfield Road, southeast of Creedmoor. RALEIGH – It’s mosquito season and it’s time for equine owners across North Carolina to talk to their veterinarians about protecting their animals from mosquito-borne diseases. Water Pipe Washout Caused by Collapsed Beaver Dam Closes a Granville County Road
RALEIGH — A culvert pipe collapse caused by the on-rush of water from a collapsed beaver dam has closed Sam Moss Hayes Road, northeast of Creedmor in Granville County. It appears the recent heavy rain caused a buildup of water behind the dam, which was built at the culvert that carried a creek under the road. RALEIGH – The N.C. Structural Pest Control Committee recently approved the following settlement agreements for cases in Duplin, Forsyth, Guilford, Iredell, Jackson, New Hanover, Pitt and Robeson counties. Brian Yarborough of Bioremediation Services of America Inc. in High Point agreed to pay $10,000 for performing and advertising for pest control services without a license.
