Vance County Schools: ABC Results and Graduation Rates
The N.C. Department of Public Instruction today released results of students’ performance on state end-of-grade and end-of-course testing administered in the spring of the 2011-2012 school year for public schools across the state, including students in Vance County Schools. The Vance County Early High School/STEM Program (EHS2P) will open to approximately 100 sixth graders on August 27, at Northern Vance High School for the 2012-2013 school year. Henderson Police Department Seeking Information On This Pictured Suspect
The Henderson Police Department is currently investigating a fraud case in which an individual cashed a counterfeit check. The individual depicted is alleged to be involved in this matter. The police department is seeking the public’s help in identifying this individual. The check was cashed at the Food Lion located at 1419 East Andrews Avenue in Henderson. Eight CNA Program Graduates honored at VGCC South Campus
Vance-Granville Community College recently honored eight students who completed the Certified Nursing Assistant I program at the college’s South Campus in Granville County. Their graduation ceremony was held on July 25 at South Campus. South Campus Director Derrick Cameron welcomed and congratulated the graduates. Vance County Schools – Federal Waiver for Services
Vance County Schools will not be offering School of Choice transfers or Supplemental Educational Services (SES) for students for the 2012-2013 school year due to the No Child Left Behind federal waiver secured by North Carolina public schools. The School of Choice transfers and SES were offered in previous school years through the Vance County Schools’ Title 1 Program as a result of local schools not meeting Adequate Yearly Progress requirements under the No Child Left Behind legislation. The deployments of laptop computers for high school students in Vance County Public Schools are scheduled to begin this week. Western Vance High School Earns Accreditation
Eric Pierce, principal of Western Vance High School, has announced that the school earned continuing accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), an accreditation division of AdvanceED. This action was taken at the national AdvanceED Accreditation Commission meeting recently. Western Vance has been accredited since 2004. Vance County Unemployment Rate Increases to 14.2
RALEIGH — Unemployment rates rose in 84 of North Carolina’s 100 counties in June, fell in 11 and were unchanged in five. When compared to the same month last year, unemployment rates declined in 91 counties, increased in six, and remained the same in three. “Over-the-year numbers are showing a positive trend compared to the June numbers,” said N.C. VGCC ranked among top N.C. Community Colleges in annual report card
Vance-Granville Community College passed all of the state’s performance measures with flying colors during the 2010-2011 academic year, according to this year’s Critical Success Factors report, which was recently released by the N.C. Community College System office. VGCC’s scores met or exceeded all of the state standards in the report.
