State Unemployment Rate Drops to 10 Percent in November
RALEIGH — The number of people unemployed in North Carolina decreased in November as the unemployment rate decreased to 10 percent, down from 10.4 percent. Total nonfarm jobs grew slightly by 3,800 in November with the private sector gaining 4,600 jobs. The public sector shed 800 jobs. “The drop in the unemployment rate was significant,” said N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue announces that North Carolina won a Race to the Top—Early Learning Challenge grant from the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Twelve cadets graduated on Dec. 13, 2011 from the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) course at Vance-Granville Community College, in a ceremony held in the Civic Center on Main Campus. RALEIGH — ENERGY STAR® homes sell faster and at a higher price per square foot compared to conventional homes, according to a study by the North Carolina Energy Efficiency Alliance (NCEEA). The study analyzed data for new homes built in 2010 in a five-county area around the Raleigh-Durham region of North Carolina.
