On Tuesday October 4, 2011 members of the Henderson Police Department responded to 1004 Eaton Street in response to the larceny of appliances. The Rogers Group reported that one electric stove and one refrigerator/freezer had been removed from the residence. After further investigation, it was determined that the appliances had been removed from 1004 Eaton Street, and was the personal property of the Rogers Group. VGCC Advisory Committees Meet
Citizens from Vance, Granville, Franklin and Warren counties came together at the main campus of Vance-Granville Community College on Oct. 25 as the college’s advisory committees held their annual meetings. $1.4 Million Awarded To Replace Granville County Bridge
RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $1.4 million contract to replace a bridge on Gooch Mills Road over the Tar River, west of Oxford in Granville County. United Contractors LLC of Great Falls, S.C. won the contract to replace the 59-year-old bridge, which is considered structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. North Carolina’s Unemployment Rate at 10.5 Percent in September
The number of people unemployed increased by 4,498, to 473,937. The number of people employed increased by 1,324 (seasonally adjusted), to 4,032,376. Since this time last year, the number of people unemployed has increased by 28,123. The state unemployment rate in September 2010 was 10 percent. This marks the 4th straight month of increases, with May beginning at 9.7, June up to 9.9, July to 10.1, August to 10.4 and now September 10.5%. On October 19, 2011 officers with the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Division arrested Jason Ayscue, 31, of Raleigh Road, Henderson and Serena Brennan, 26, of 2225 North Oakridge Blvd, Durham for stealing approximately $3000.00 of City of Henderson property from an undisclosed location. The property stolen was metal in content and recovered from a local metal recycler.
